Statistics show that the American male grooming market is worth more than $3.5 billion. While men are eating healthier foods and exercising more than ever before, many men who consult with Dr. Slupchynskyj do so because they usually don’t look as good on the outside as they feel on the inside. Men well into their 40s, 50s and 60s feel the need to enhance their appearance to appear more youthful.
A properly executed Face-Lift can help to restore a man’s sense of youthful vitality and energy. Someone may take great care of their health over the years, and feel vibrant, but see a sad, saggy face in the mirror every morning. Facial Plastic Surgery for men is very similar to surgery for women, and is done for many of the same reasons, but there are some differences.
When to have Male Facelift Surgery
Many men who pursue Cosmetic Facial Surgery are usually about ten years older than the typical woman having the same surgery. Because men are somewhat older when they have Plastic Surgery, the effects of aging on the face are more pronounced, such as jowling, loss of definition in the neck area; pronounced nasolabial folds/wrinkle, frown lines, and sagging cheek skin. Consequently, the longer a man waits to have cosmetic surgery, the more extensive the surgery may become. Dr. Slupchynskyj finds that men will generally approach facial surgery with the same mindset of female patients. They all prefer a more subtle change in appearance; they want to look like themselves only better; no one wants drastic changes. Dr. Slupchynskyj’s patients accomplish this through the SLUPlift™ Minimally Invasive Facelift, which can take years off a man’s, or woman’s face.
Differences Between the Male and Female Face
Men’s facial skin is thicker and typically oilier than women’s thus manual dissection during the surgery needs to be meticulously done; preferably by a highly trained and qualified Facial Plastic Surgeon like Dr. Slupchynskyj. Since men also have more blood vessels in their face than women, so there the possibility of more bleeding in a Male Face-Lift, a higher chance of blood pooling and formation of a hematoma.
As with female facelifting, incision placement and technique are paramount to a successful Facelift result. Since men have beards and different hairlines than women, Dr. Slupchynskyj ensures the smaller SLUPlift™ incision is hidden and completely inconspicuous. Other surgeons may choose to place a post-tragal incision, (i.e. behind the tragus) – a small pointed part of the external ear, which points backwards towards the inner ear – and then pull the beard onto the tragus. Dr. Slupchynskyj will never performs this type of incision since this will generally results in an obvious tell-tale sign of a Facelift. Male Chin and Jaw Augmentation
Augmentation of existing bone structure has become extremely more with Dr. Slupchynskyj’s Male (and even Female) Face-Lift patients. For a man or woman, a Chin, Cheek or Jaw Augmentation procedure can be performed during normal Facial Plastic Surgery, and can help restore not only facial proportions but also definition and fullness to a face, which is lost through the aging process. Lip Augmentation and Rhinoplasty are other procedures that can be done in conjunction with a Face-Lift.
Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj, MD, FACS, often performs a combination of procedures in conjunction with a Facelift, depending upon his patient’s specific aging and requests which can include Chin or Cheek Augmentations, Jaw Augmentations, Endoscopic Brow Lifts (as a Facelift does not lift the upper third of the face), Eyelid Lifts, Fat Grafting, and even Rhinoplasty.
Healthy, middle-aged or older men and women who have careers in entertainment, fashion, finance, sales and marketing, and other businesses that attract younger individuals are turning to Dr. Slupchynskyj for just that little nip or tuck here and there to give them a younger, more vigorous appearance. Men and women want to reverse the signs of the inevitable aging process and often find Cosmetic Surgery to be their best option. If you are fit and full of life and vitality, but your outward appearance comes across as tired and worn out, then you may be an ideal candidate for the SLUPlift™, which can help achieve and offer a true reflection of how you really feel on the inside.
